I began beading and creating jewelry 12 years ago and instantly fell in love. I am constantly learning new and fun ways to string beads. I love to try out and play with new ideas and materials. I am a mom to a beautiful 10 year old boy. He is such a blessing and is the joy of my life. I also am a survivor of PPCM (Postpartum Cardiomyopathy) I was diagnosed 5 days after the birth of my son. It is a rare heart condition that affects women during pregnancy and up to 5 months after delivery.***
I was a preschool teacher for 10 years prior to having my son and was always having fun creating things with the children that I cared for and taught. I left teaching when I had my son for the opportunity to stay at home with him. In the midst of that, I also went through a separation from my husband. When I was a stay at home mom, I was able to spend a lot of time relaxing and making jewelry while my little one was napping. But now that I am teaching again, and returning to school, I am unable to spend as much time creating beautiful pieces as I once was. Every chance that I get a few moments to myself, though, I am thinking about future projects and new things that I would like to make. :) I hope you enjoy perusing my shop. Please let me know if you have any questions or requests for custom orders. :)
*** "Postpartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a form of dilated cardiomyopathy that is defined as deterioration in cardiac function, presenting typically between the last month of pregnancy and up to five months postpartum. As with other forms of dilated cardiomyopathy, PPCM involves systolic dysfunction of the heart with a decrease of the left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) with associated congestive heart failure and an increased risk of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, thromboembolic events (blockage of a blood vessel by a blood clot), and even sudden cardiac death. In essence, the heart is weakened and does not pump sufficiently for the needs of the body.
PPCM is a diagnosis of exclusion, wherein patients have no prior history of heart disease and there are no other known possible causes of heart failure. Echocardiogram is used to both diagnose and monitor the effectiveness of treatment for PPCM."
